The End Is Near

dust. is a publication I spent this past semester building from the ground up about the apocalypse as rebirth, calling upon the old "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" homage. It's content consists of many different writings, interviews, and even songs about the apocalypse as it pertains to nuclear, biblical, and astrological ends.

Heavy stuff, I know. It does, however, take a suprising turn by introducing content about regeneration, and being able to rise from the ashes, preaching the cyclical idea that what we see as an end, becomes a new beginning.

The process was intriguing as we started with three visual interests to generate ideas for subject matter, and both formal and conceptual design decisions. My three? Kachina dolls, 70s computer technology, and medical diagrams. Evident? I think so, but you can be the judge.

I Read the News Today, Oh Boy

Was cruising along the beautiful coastline yesterday in all of summer's glory, when KXLU decided to share this absolute gem: an awesome 70s jazz cover of the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" as performed by Les Merle.

If you're a fan of old funk film titles, chances are you'll thoroughly enjoy this.

Where I Got Lost

A past due posting, to say the least. This last semester just about killed me, but look at all the stuff I've made...well, some of it. More to come, later.

1.I'm officially an intern at Stones Throw Records, looking forward to having a good time over there.

2. I'm officially going to see The National on Saturday evening. If you're not familiar, GET FAMILIAR. I even get to attend the show with resident fine gentleman Paul Cooley, to whom I owe many things.

Lindo

After a bit of a long and stressful hiatas complements of Otis, I'm back, and would like to welcome all thoses interested to the wonderful world of Portugal based designer and illustrator Cristiana Couceiro. Her work is almost nauseatingly charming, with its beautiful found images and delicately handled type, arranged in perfect little compostions that gives me delightful chills up my spine. Ahhhhh...scale shift, scale shift, scale shift. I love it. See more of her work here.

He also participated in Beck's Music Inspired Art Project, in which designers have been creating their own versions of album artwork for Pitchfork's "Album of the Decade" list.
